Velichie party members and supporters gathered at a protest in front of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) building on Monday. They were waving flags and were surrounded by a police cordon.
"We are here for a free and democratic State, we want equal rights for all, not someone to buy the people's vote," party leader Ivelin Mihaylov told journalists.
Velichie was left out of the 51st National Assembly with 3.999% of the votes at the October 27 parliamentary elections. They needed 4% to be part of the legislature. Mihaylov added that the protest was not caused by the party's election result, but "because of the freedom we want for all people and equal rights."
Velichie wants the elections to be annulled. "We have submitted a request to the Constitutional Court," Mihaylov said.
