site.btaMonthly Allowance for Defence Ministry Staff Increases by BGN 100

The allowances received by servicemen and civilian employees in the Ministry of Defence, structures directly subordinate to the Minister of Defence and the Bulgarian Army, are increased from BGN 200 to BGN 300, the press centre of the Ministry said here on Tuesday.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Defence Council held on October 21, 2024, and comes into force by order of Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov on November 1. The funds for the increase in the allowance money are provided from the Ministry’s budget.

This equalizes the allowances in the Defence Ministry and the Ministry of Interior.

The measure will increase the income of people in the defence sector, and it aims to increase the motivation to enter, perform and retain the jobs of servicemen and civilian employees, the Defence Ministry said.

The lowest basic salary for servicemen from January 1, 2025 will be raised from BGN 2,300 to BGN 2,370, the statement said.
