site.bta13% More Funds Envisaged in 2025 National Health Insurance Fund Draft Budget

The draft budget of the National Health Insurance Fund for the next year will provide for 13% more funds than in 2024, National Health Insurance Fund Governor Stanimir Mihaylov , told journalists after a meeting of the NHIF Supervisory Board. There is BGN 8,168,353.1 thousand in the Treasury's budget for this year.

"We are ready with the draft, but there is a change in the deadlines for the budget procedure," he added, noting that there are no indications so far that this will  affect the budget framework for 2025.

"We cannot yet announce specific numbers until we present the project to the NHIF Supervisory Board," said Ganka Avramova, Director of the Budget and Financial Parameters Directorate at the NHIF.  She noted that nothing is final, there are upcoming meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance, complying with the policies introduced last year in the legal framework. She added that assessments are pending as to whether there are changes in the legal framework that provide grounds for increasing the funds for some payments, and reducing the funds for others.
