The parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media voted, 6-2 with two abstentions, to reject the Foreign Agents Registration Bill on first reading here on Thursday.

The bill was proposed by Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov and a group of MPs.

On Wednesday, the Association of European Journalists - Bulgaria (AEJ) condemned as "absurd and unconstitutional" the foreign agents bill proposed by Vazrazhdane. AEJ warned that the legislation threatens freedom of expression and undermines Bulgaria's democratic order, potentially affecting media, civil society organizations, businesses, and citizens.
