A total of 141 Bessarabian Bulgarians from Moldova have been admitted to Bulgarian universities for the new  2024/2025 academic year. Overall, 209 secondary school graduates from different Moldovan settlements, where Bulgarian language is studied as a native one, have applied for higher education in Bulgaria.

The coordinator of the campaign for students in Bulgaria from Moldova, Dr. Maria Delibaltova, told BTA that there are different reasons why some students were not accepted. She said that, according to the Bulgarian Education Ministry, twelve people have been turned down by the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, 31 have not submitted applications with preferred courses and some have been rejected by the Ministry of Education due to unsubmitted documents.

The 2024 student application campaign under Council of Ministers’ Decree 103 was successfully completed, despite some difficulties, Delibaltova said.
