The Parliament Wednesday adopted a decision to extend by 180 days the negotiations with Ukraine on the sale of equipment Bulgaria has purchased for the Belene nuclear power plant project before deciding to abandon it. The resolution amending the decision to task the Minister of Energy to conduct negotiations with the Minister of Energy of Ukraine was proposed by Delyan Dobrev from GERB-UDF.

After the completion of the negotiations, the Minister of Energy must take a decision on the sale of the long production cycle equipment owned by the National Electricity Company and submit a report to the National Assembly.

The draft decision was supported by 107 MPs from the groups of GERB-UDF, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, Movement for Rights and Freedoms and five independent MPs. The "against" votes included 65 MPs from Vazrazhdane, the Bulgarian Socialist Party and 14 independent MPs. 13 MPs of There Is Such a People abstained.
