A delegation of the Vazrazhdane party, consisting of its leader Kostadin Kostadinov and MPs Georgi Georgiev and Yordan Todorov, was received on Thursday by the Grand Mufti, Dr Mustafa Hadzhi, and the Secretary General of the Muslim Denomination in Bulgaria, Dzhelal Faik, Kostadinov said in a Facebook that was quoted by his party in a press release on Friday.

The discussion centred on current issues, including the latest amendments to the Pre-school and School Education Act, Kostadinov wrote. "The Grand Mufti's Office declared their support for standing up for the moral values that are fundamental to the proper character education of the young generation. At the end of the meeting, the Grand Mufti presented to us with the books The Religious Organization of Muslims in Bulgaria and Islamic Law," Kostadinov wrote. 

On August 7, Bulgaria's National Assembly amended the Pre-school and School Education Act banning any "propaganda, popularization or instigation in any way whatsoever, whether directly or indirectly, in the educational system of any ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation and/or gender identification otherwise than according to the biological sex" and defining "non-traditional sexual orientation" as "notions of emotional, romantic, sexual, sensual attraction of persons of opposite sexes that are different from such notions as commonly accepted and established in the Bulgarian legal tradition". The law was gazetted on August 16 under a decree signed by President Rumen Radev.
