From our municipal councillors in Elin Pelin, I learnt that people paid private fire and water trucks, it is not the state, There Is Such a People leader Toshko Yordanov told journalists. According to him, the owner of the supermarket chain, whose warehouse also caught fire, called a private fire service and other people did the same.

An awful tragedy and the bigger problem is that the state cannot react, said Yordanov. We should first see what the cause for the blast is but the problem is that there should be state bodies to respond in such cases. He added that Bulgaria has no civil protection service or a single unit which can respond immediately.
