A minority government was the only kind possible under the present National Assembly, MP Rosen Zhelyazkov (GERB) said on Nova TV on Sunday. "Such a cabinet would have brought reassurance and would have taken care of the state budget," he commented.
"Everything was torpedoed at the very beginning of the tenure of the [current] 50th National Assembly," he said, blaming the bad start on the refusal of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) to engage in talks. "CC-DB have always been partners with whom we share the same geopolitical values," the former Parliament chair said.
Zhelyazkov sees GERB as the only stable party at present as it is free of internal shifts and a leadership problem. A process of rejuvenation and increasing reliance on expertise is underway in the party, according to him.
"We are trying not to get overexcited about what is happening in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms beyond the media coverage," he said.
