Nearly 500 people from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) want Delyan Peevski's resignation (as one of the party's two chairmen), said MRF Chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov after a meeting with representatives of MRF structures from across the country in Sofia, who were carrying a banner that reads "MRF without Peevski".

In his words, all those who were at the meeting demanded that Peevski steps down. "The 500-strong activist group is fully behind the call of MRF Honorary President Ahmed Dogan for the resignation of Delyan Peevski and the people mentioned in his address. All of us have categorically decided not to allow any ethnic tension in the country. MRF is for ethnic peace," said Chakarov.

Ahead of the meeting, Sevim Ali, an indepednent MP who announced his support for Dogan, told the media that the MRF's structures from all over the country were taking part in the meeting and would discuss the situation in the party with the MPs and Chairman Chakarov. The structures support the party's Honorary Chairman Ahmed Dogan and stand behind his call (for Peevski's resignation). On July 10, Ahmed Dogan called in a letter for the resignations of Delyan Peevski, Halil Letifov, Stanislav Anastasov, Hamid Hamid, Erten Anisova and Radoslav Revanski. A day after Ahmed Dogan called for Peevski's resignation, MRF’s parliamentary group decided to expel 17 MPs, including the other Chair Dzhevdet Chakarov, which further deepened the rift within the party.

After their meeting, MRF Chairman Chakarov, MPs and representatives of MRF structures tried to enter the building of the party's headquarters, which was closed.

The MRF representatives were holding signs posters, which they placed on the building that read: 'Who closed the headquarters', 'Who', 'We want the headquarters', 'The headquarters is MRF's'. There was police presence at the scene.

"For nearly three weeks the MRF headquarters has been emptied due to renovations. All winter there were repairs, but we worked. We have nowhere to meet our structures. Only the last two floors are being renovated. The party's server is down, emails are not working. Access has been stopped by IT specialists," said Dhzeyhan Ibryamov. According to him, the headquarters was open in the morning and there were workers.

"Now it is locked. Maybe we should ask the other chairman," Ibryamov added, apparently referring to Peevski.

Later in the day, Chakarov said they managed to enter the MRF's headquarers. "From what I have seen, we are very surprised by what has been done. Everything has been taken out, all the offices are empty. The office of the Honorary Chairman, Dr Ahmed Dogan, has been literally ransacked. All the documentation is gone, nowhere to be seen. This is very disturbing, said Chakarov.

He stressed that the headquarters would be opened in due order.
