site.btaMRF Chairman Peevski: Democracy’s Immune System Is Activated During Elections

The immune system of democracy is activated through the vote of Bulgarians, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chairman Delyan Peevski wrote in a message, distributed by the party's press centre. According to him, this is the way to deal with someone’s wrong perceptions of their role and place.

"The installation in Bulgarian politics by Reshetnikov of dependent figures like Radev and conditions which allow them to appropriate the right to make diagnoses, shows a heavy misunderstanding of the functioning and responsibility of institutions, the role of the presidential institution and its transient occupant in a parliamentary republic", he adds. 

Commenting on the wildfires on Thursday, Delyan Peevski said that "the president is not in doing his job by not convening the Consultative Council on National Security ".

For his part President Radev said: “The fact that seriously discredited figures such as [Movement for Rights and Freedoms Floor Leader] Delyan Peevski can be installed in Bulgarian politics and they can appropriate the right to call themselves Euro-Atlantic politicians, dispense justice, and pose as moral beacons suggests that our political system has become seriously dysfunctional and needs radical surgery," Radev said.
