After a series of replacements of key figures in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), which continued during the week, MRF leader Delyan Peevski Saturday told a meeting with municipal mayors that "the new beginning for MRF is a fact. Those who do not understand it, remain in the past", the MRF press centre said.
The meeting was also attended by the deputy leaders of the MRF and the MRF parliamentary group, MPs and members of the MRF Central Operations Bureau (COB).
"The most important for us is the voice of the people and the will of the structures. At the elections [June 9 two-in-one elections] we showed that we can listen to the people and they granted us their trust," Peevski said, as quoted in the press release. The MRF chairman added that the party has the energy and the will to follow the Euro-Atlantic path of Bulgaria and is implacable in defending it, regardless of any provocations.
MRF mayors are the ones who implement MRF policies and are among the people along with the party structures, so they are the litmus for the party's direction and actions, he said.
The working meeting discussed the results of the past parliamentary elections, the assessment and expectations of the people about the political processes at the national level, and the specific problems of the individual municipalities and settlements, for the solution of which the people rely on the support of the central government, the press release said.
The meeting was attended by MRF deputy leaders Yordan Tsonev, Iskra Mihaylova, Khalil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, Erten Anisova and Bayram Bayram, MPs Fatima Yildaz, Ibraim Zaydenov, Ahmed Vranchev, Elvan Gyurkas, Radoslav Revanski, member of the COB and mayor of Belitsa municipality, Tsvetan Enchev, COB member and MP, Erol Mümün, COB member and mayor of Kardzhali municipality, and Vedat Hussein, regional chairman of MRF Blagoevgrad, the MRF press centre said. Also present were the mayors of about 40 municipalities.
The XI National Conference of the political formation, which took place in Sofia on February 24, 2024, confirmed the new model of governance of the MRF, the tasks facing the party in Bulgarian and international politics. Delyan Peevski and Dzhevdet Chakarov were elected as leaders of the MRF.
