Between 22 and 24 anti-hail rocket sites should be set up across the country, the head of the Hail Suppression Agency, Valeri Tsenov, said here Friday. Tsenov cited an analysis, according to which there have been closures of such sites and a reduction in administration for years, leading to failures in hail suppression.

The Agency stands ready to begin setting up the sites, once funding is secured. This year's active hail-fighting season started early, with 9,990 rockets having been launched to date and 6,400 rockets being in stock. On Friday alone, between 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., 890 rockets were launched.

Tsenov took part in a meeting with farmers, which was also attended by the caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov and the caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov.

Tahov reported that a full inspection is being conducted at the Hail Suppression Agency, which includes a complete audit of stockpiles and types of rockets.
