Exit Polls: GERB-UDF Lead in National, EP Elections, Second Place Highly Contested, Turnout Low

Exit polls conducted by Market Links, Alpha Research, Gallup International and Trend show GERB-UDF leading after Bulgaria's elections for National Assembly and European Parliament on June 9. The second position is challenged by Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). 

To be allocated seats in the national legislature, contestants must poll at least 4% of the valid votes. The electoral threshold for entry in the European Parliament is 5.8% (100% divided by the 17 seats assigned to Bulgarian MEPs).

The turnout in the national elections and the EP elections around 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. was 22.6% and 22.2%, respectively, according to Market Links, and 23.7% and 23.9% according to Alpha Research.

The official figures will likely show a record-low voter turnout.
