The Czech Republic is presenting a new generation of training aircraft and products related to the modern defence industry at the 16th Hemus 2024 International Exhibition of Defence Products and Services. This was announced on Thursday by the team of the country's Honorary Consul in Plovdiv, Ivan Sokolov.

A delegation led by the Czech Ambassador to Bulgaria Miroslav Toman got acquainted with the potential of L-39NG at Plovdiv Airport.

Pilot David Jahoda, who has more than 2,500 flying hours, demonstrated some of the jet trainer's qualities, stressing that it is lightweight, economical and has improved avionics from previous models.

Deputy Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Tsanko Stoykov, commented that the aircraft is suitable for training pilots who will later prepare to fly the F-16. The new L-39NG is almost the same as the L-39 Bulgarian pilots are currently flying, Stoykov said. He said that all Bulgarian pilots have flown the Czech L-29 and 39 training aircraft.

The aviation experts present specified that the L-39NG is fully compliant with NATO standards, the statement said.

The exhibition is accompanied by a business programme related to investment and future development of the military and defence industry. Civilians can also visit Hemus 2024 on June 7 and 8.
