European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will arrive in Bulgaria on Sunday, June 2, in her capacity as the lead candidate of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament elections, the GERB-UDF coalition said in a press release on Saturday.
In the southern city of Plovdiv, von der Leyen will join a meeting at which GERB-UDF will present its list of candidates for the European Parliament elections, which, in Bulgaria, will coincide with snap elections to the national Parliament on June 9.
EPP President Manfred Weber will also attend the meeting.
The event will be held at the Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday. GERB-UDF's top-of-the-list nominee for the European elections, ex-Parliament chair Rosen Zhelyazkov, will present the priorities and the policies of the coalition as a member of the EPP family.
Von der Leyen and Weber will deliver special addresses to EPP voters in Bulgaria. GERB leader and former prime minister Boyko Borissov is expected to make a statement.
