No people were injured after the Kastel Dam in the northern village of Batoshevo overflowed on Wednesday, BTA learned from the Gabrovo Regional Directorate of Interior. The heavy rain between 5 and 6 pm killed several farm animals and affected farmland and agricultural buildings. There is no threat to the population.

Thursday's heavy showers, combined with hail in some places, caused damages in Sofia and several settlements across Bulgaria. A man was hit by thunder in Sofia's Mladost 1 borough; according to the latest information, his life is not in danger. 

More heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday. A yellow code for dangerous weather has been issued for 13 regions, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said. Between 20 and 35 m of rain is expected to fall within 24 hours in Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Sofia Region, and Stara Zagora.
