Foreign Ministry Secretary General Svetlan Stoev received on Thursday at the Foreign Ministry representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the press centre of the ministry said. The occasion for the talks were the upcoming simultaneous snap parliamentary elections and European parliamentary elections on June 9.

Stoev briefed the OSCE ODIHR representatives on the tasks of the Foreign Ministry in organizing the electoral process outside the country in order to ensure the right to vote of every Bulgarian citizen abroad. He highlighted the excellent cooperation with OSCE ODIHR.

The meeting took place in the framework of a five-day visit to Bulgaria by a team of OSCE ODIHR, headed by the Deputy Head of the Elections Department, Ulvi Akhundlu, who is in the country to assess the needs for international observation of the election process. The programme of the visit of the OSCE representatives included meetings with all Bulgarian institutions responsible for the conduct of the elections, with the parliamentary parties, and with representatives of civil society and the media.
