site.btaPoll: 46% of Bulgarians Are Disappointed with Political Situation in Their Country
Close to half of Bulgarians (46%) are disappointed with the political situation in their country, according to a Market Links/bTV poll made public by bTV Friday. The poll shows that less than 50% will vote in the early elections for national Parliament on June 9.
On the same day Bulgarians will also be voting for European Parliament.
The poll was funded and conducted by Market Links and bTV among 1,046 adult respondents between March 30 and April 7. The pollsters used person-to-person interviews and online questionnaires.
Asked about the emotion they feel when they think of the political situation in Bulgaria, 18% said they are angry and another 14% feel anxiety.
The respondents gave a low mark, 2.7 on a scale of 2 to 6, to Parliament and 2.8 to the last government (of Nikolay Denkov).
The supporters of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) had a higher mark for the Denkov Cabinet (4.2) and those of GERB gave it 2.8.
Only 41% of respondents are sure to vote in the June 9 elections. 12% are determined not to vote.
Confidence in the state institutions has been edging down in the past months. Confidence in Parliament was 15% in September 2023 and went down to 9% in March 2024. The like figures for the government were 21% and 14%.
Voter support for GERB-UDF is 8 percentage points higher than that of CC-DB: 25.5% vs. 17.1%.
Third is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 11.8%.
Vazrazhdane has the second highest result among all respondents but is fourth with 10.3% if only those who are determined to vote are taken into consideration.
The Socialist party gets 8.7%. There Is Such a People is below the 4% threshold with 3.9%, reports bTV.
