site.btaCulture Builds Bridges: Minister Todorov Highlights Culture’s Role in Bulgarian-North Macedonian Relations
It's not a cliché to say that culture builds bridges, said caretaker Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov during a meeting at the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Skopje with the creative team of the Vratsa Drama and Puppet Theatre on Thursday.
The theatre is set to perform Gymnastics for Pregnant Women in Skopje as part of its North Macedonia tour, supported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
The Ministry of Culture has provided backing for many Bulgarian cultural institutions to present their creative works in various cities throughout the Republic of North Macedonia in 2024. The Ruse State Opera will perform in Skopje in the upcoming days, and the Blagoevgrad Theatre will take the stage in Bitola.
"Our goal is to mend the broken bridges with your help. I hope Bulgarian theatres will keep performing in the Republic of North Macedonia, and theatres from North Macedonia will visit Bulgaria," Todorov said.
Todorov viewed the exhibition Additive by Gergana Zmiicharova and Petrinel Gochev, displayed in the closed gallery of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Skopje.
Earlier on Thursday, Todorov participated in a panel discussion on creating culture in Europe at the annual international music conference PIN MUSIC in Skopje. He was joined by representatives from Greece, Estonia, and North Macedonia.
"It was a creative discussion about the role of art in a united Europe and the connection between different countries through art," Todorov told BTA. Todorov was invited to the conference in two roles: as the caretaker Minister of Culture and as a conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic.
