During the election campaign, the parliament should not work, Ivaylo Valchev, MP from There Is Such a People, told journalists in the National Assembly. According to him, an agenda is being sought that both supports the idea that the parliament is supposedly working and that the topics being discussed are such that it does not look as if someone has started his election campaign from the rostrum.

According to Valchev, the fact that the parliament continues to work, not just until new elections are held, but until the next one is sworn in, is absolute madness.

Surely it is right during the campaign that the parliament should not work, the MP said. He recalled that such a rule was not included in the rules of procedure of the National Assembly, but such a break. Valchev noted that MPs continue to receive their salaries because they are formally at work, formally they are MPs, but they will go and campaign.

Asked if there were any urgent items that need to be passed this fortnight, the MP said there certainly are. However, he said it was obvious that the more important items are not being rushed through. They are looking for some appropriate moment so that they find the necessary majority, Valchev added.

The other thing that needs to be done, according to him, is related to the understaffed commission that oversees the security services and special surveillance intelligence.

"I just cannot explain who actually sets the agenda to imitate some activity, but in fact to come and go without having done anything special," Valchev commented.
