Parliament Amends Vocational Education and Training Act to Include New Professions

Parliament adopted on Thursday at second reading amendments to the Vocational Education and Training Act related to the inclusion of new professions. The bill was submitted by the Council of Ministers.

The MPs voted that within three months of the entry into force of this law, the Minister of Education and Science should approve a new list of professions for vocational education and training. The National Assembly agreed that training in the professions on the list to be drawn up by the Minister of Education and Science in school vocational education and training will begin in the 2026-2027 school year for students entering the eighth grade.

It is envisaged that employers' organizations will prepare proposals for the inclusion of new professions, deletion and amendment of existing professions in the List of Professions for Vocational Education and Training and participate in its development, coordination and updating.

The amendments also provide for a distinction of vocational qualification levels in the List of Vocational Education and Training Occupations. According to the texts, each profession contains at least one level of professional qualification. The degrees of professional qualification acquired under this law are first, second, third, and fourth. People who have acquired the higher degree of professional qualification may perform work activities requiring professional knowledge, skills and competences for the lower degree.
