Defence Minister Todor Tagarev met with visiting NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Gen. Philippe Lavigne, the Defence Ministry said here on Thursday. The talks focused on the Alliance's adaptation to contemporary challenges and the challenges of the future. The two also discussed new approaches in defence planning and specific issues on the agenda of the upcoming Washington Summit.
During the meeting, Defence Minister Tagarev focused on the role of the Allied Command Transformation in taking into account the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine and applying them to the organisation, preparation and planning of activities in the Armed Forces. Space technology and artificial intelligence for security and defence purposes were discussed in view of the future challenges. An emphasis was placed on human capital in defence.
