The calls to the National Telephone Line for Children (116 111) of the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) were 25,709 in 2023, of which 7,849 were consultations for support, SACP said on Monday. Nearly 4,050 calls were made by children.
The number of reports of a child at risk was 1,191, of which 742 were for child abuse. SACP repored an increase in the number of alerts submitted to the European emergency number (112). A total of 23 alerts were received from educational establishments as 20 of those were submitted by medical professionals.
The main topic on which parents sought advice from 116 111 in 2023 was how to deal with situations related to family problems and issues related to separated parents. The most common topics on which children sought advice were how to communicate with each other and how to communicate with adults.
The National Telephone Line for Children works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free of charge. In 2023, the SACP also launched a chat application for conversation and consultation with children. SACP experts are available to answer children's questions on the app between 2 pm and 4 pm every Tuesday and Thursday.
