Hiking conditions in the mountains on Saturday are poor with strong winds and cold temperatures, said the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS). The wind is strong in Pirin, Rila and Vitosha, and sotmy in Stara Planina.

The MRS warned that temperatures in the mountains are about -4C, up to -6C in some areas. The air will feel very cold, said the MRS and warned people to be well dressed and to walk only in the forest belt of the mountains.

On Friday, the Sofia detachment of the National Security Service warned that due to the snowfall and strong wind, an increased avalanche danger is expected on Vitosha.
