With this mobile application, Help Me, we are sending a very strong message that the Bulgarian public won’t tolerate any kind of violence, said Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel at the launch of the application at the Council of Ministers on Thursday. The application provides information on the scope of legal aid that is provided.

Natalya Ilieva of the National Bureau for Legal Aid, said that the Bureau is a state body, which ensures access to justice for people from vulnerable social groups. She said that the application is fairly simple and that the information is two clicks away.

Gabriel said that the Protection against Domestic Violence Act and the National Council for Prevention of Domestic Violence are the legal framework on the issue of domestic violence.

“We all together should encourage the victims to seek help,” said the Deputy Prime Minister. Gabriel said that the application sends a clear message of coordination between all institutions, regional and crisis centres.

She added that the application is only a step forward and doesn’t exhaust everything that should be done for the protection of victims of domestic violence.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged for consolidation of all efforts so that policies for prevention of violence have real results.
