There is only one breast milk bank in Bulgaria. This is what Dr. Maria Rusinova, nutritionist and dietetics specialist, said during the conference "Born Too Early". The forum was organized by the "Our Premature Children" foundation and was held on the occasion of World Prematurity Day, November 17. There are two breast milk banks in Serbia, one in Romania, four in Greece, eight in Hungary, 16 in Spain, 31 in Germany and 36 in France, she said.

On the occasion of World Prematurity Day, the foundation will distribute gifts in neonatal units across the country. A donation campaign is also being organised to purchase equipment for six health facilities in the country where more than 3,100 babies are born annually.

On Friday evening, Sofia’s NDK convention centre and the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo will be illuminated in purple to attract public attention and as a sign of support and sympathy for premature babies and their families.
