Lukoil Affair Must Be Revealed, Sayas MRF Floor Leader Peevski at Meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador Ilashchuk

Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Floor Leader Delyan Peevski and Ukrainian Ambassador here Olesya Ilashchuk agreed at a meeting in the Parliament on Thursday to continue working against the Putin regime and its financing. 

The Ukrainian Ambassador personally thanked Peevski and the MRF for their proactive position in supporting Ukraine against the criminal Putin regime on the part of Bulgaria.

Special emphasis was placed on measures to end all economic activities that generate billions in profits that finance the Russian military and private military companies such as Wagner. “The Lukoil affair must be revealed and all those involved must be held accountable,” Delyan Peevski was adamant.

He stressed that to stop all possibilities of circumventing the European sanctions and influence of Russia, in order to finance the military campaign in Ukraine, he will contact the prosecution magistracy to establish the full extent of the crimes of officials against the sanctions. 

“The prosecution service and the State Agency for National Security must intervene in this monstrous international Lukoil affair,” argued Peevski. He assured Ambassador Ilashchuk that he will be persistent in his actions to ensure compliance with sanctions, the preservation of national and European sovereignty and making it impossible for senior government officials to turn a blind eye to these dangerous abuses.

Peevski informed Ambassador Ilashchuk that he would contact the prosecution magistracy and the State Agency for National Security for the customs data on the export and import of oil products produced from Russian oil, originating from Lukoil. For the investigation, the Ukrainian customs will be required to provide detailed information on the quantities, which will be compared with that of the Bulgarian customs. According to preliminary information, more than 60% of the Russian oil processed at Lukoil Neftochim does not go to the Bulgarian or Ukrainian market, and there are reasonable assumptions that billions in undocumented funds which are used to finance the criminal Russian regime and the war.
