In a letter to Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, GERB floor leader Boyko Borissov and Movement of Rights and Freedoms co-floor leader Delyan Peevski questioned what measures have been taken regarding the implementation of the Agreement between the Prime Minister, Ministers, MPs and representatives of trade union organizations in the energy sector, concluded on October 3, indicated the GERB Facebook page on Thursday.

The two want information on what measures have been taken under point five of the agreement (concerning the unconditional removal from the territorial just transition plans of an enterprise for the conversion of the coal-producing areas), whose deadline for implementation is October 31. Borissov and Peevski also want an answer to whether actions have been taken on the other points.

In their letter to Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, Borissov and Peevski indicate that the National Assembly is the guarantor of the implementation of the agreement reached. They recall that, in connection with the control that must be carried out on its implementation, MPs demanded weekly information on the individual measures.

With the decision adopted on October 3, the Council of Ministers was tasked with continuing the procedure for introducing a capacity mechanism, as well as starting a procedure for maintaining the necessary composition of synchronously operating and reserve generating sources directly connected to the power transmission network, through legal solutions to guarantee the operation of modern dispatchable power generation capacities, as a basic element of the critical energy infrastructure and national energy security to achieve a smooth energy transition. The deadline is December 31, 2023.
