site.btaDraft Resolution Extending Deadline for Introduction of 2024 Budget Bill Submitted to Parliament
Members of three parliamentary groups have moved a draft resolution extending the government's deadline for the introduction in Parliament of the 2024 State Budget Bill and the 2024 Budget Bills of the National Health Insurance Fund and of Public Social Insurance.
The proposal was made by Yordan Tsonev (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), Venko Sabrutev (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria) and Delyan Dobrev (GERB-UDF), according to Parliament's website. The proposed deadline is November 15.
The reasoning is that Parliament will not sit between October 11 and 27 as Bulgaria is holding local elections on October 29.
The sponsors also argue that the tax legislation must be amended before the three budget bills are adopted.
Under the Public Finance Act, the Council of Ministers has until October 31 to submit an approved State Budget Bill.
