site.btaCabinet Approves Bill Amending Road Transport Act to Introduce Mobility Package I Rules

The Council of Ministers approved a bill amending the Road Transport Act to introduce at national level measures applying the EU's Mobility Package I. Carriers who manage vehicle fleets between over 2.5 tonnes and 3.5 tonnes are required to hold a Community road transport licence.

To improve the control and quality of weekly rest periods, drivers must carry proof of driver hours worked for the day and the last 56 days instead of 28 days as now.

Specific rules are laid down for the posting of professional drivers in road transport. The aim is, on the one hand, to apply the EU rules in Bulgaria and, on the other, to guarantee the right of posted drivers to work under the same conditions as workers in the country to which they are posted.
