President Rumen Radev to Lead Bulgarian Delegation at 78th Session of UN General Assembly

President Rumen Radev will be on a working visit to New York, USA, from September 18 to 21. He will lead the Bulgarian delegation and represent this  country within the 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78), the presidential press office said.

On September 18, President  Radev will participate in the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, a high-level political forum under the auspices of the UN General Assembly. The Bulgarian President will make speeches within the leadership formats dedicated to science, technology and innovation.

On the same day, Radev will have meetings with representatives of Jewish organizations in New York.

On September 19, the Bulgarian President will participate in the opening of the General Debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. Radev's agenda for the day includes bilateral meetings with the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, with the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, with the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and others.

On September 20, President Radev will participate in the Climate Summit under the auspices of the UN Secretary General.

The Bulgarian head of State will make a speech during the General Debate at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. The theme of the General Debate is “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and the sustainability for all.” 

The Bulgarian President's programme for the day includes bilateral meetings with the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, and others.

On September 21, President Radev will meet with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel is in the delegation led by the Bulgarian head of state.

During his visit to the USA, Radev will be accompanied by his wife Dessislava Radeva.

According to official sources, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his American counterpart Joe Biden will use the annual session of the UN General Assembly next week to launch a global initiative for decent work in the 21st century, the Spanish news agency EFE reported on Friday.
