Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov will welcome the Prime Ministers of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Romania Marcel Ciolacu on October 9 at the Euxinograd Residence. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Moldovan President Maia Sandu have also been invited. The meeting was scheduled during Denkov’s one-day visit to Athens on Monday, the press centre of the Council of Ministers said on Tuesday.

The main topic of the talks near Varna will be regional connectivity and, in particular, the project for a corridor from Thessaloniki via Kavala, Alexandroupolis, Burgas and Varna to Constanta with a possible extension to Moldova. The idea is to build modern transport, communication and energy infrastructure along the route, which will boost economic and political ties between the countries involved.

The future corridor will function even more effectively when all the countries along the route become members of the Schengen area and the borders between them are abolished.
