site.btaSyrian National Detained on Domestic Violence Charges

The Sofia Regional Prosecution Office brought a Syrian national to criminal liability for causing trivial bodily injury to a woman, the prosecution office said here on Monday.

On August 12, in Sofia, the accused person had punched the victim with his hands, pulled her hair and hit her in the body with a belt, which resulted in a trivial bodily injury. The offence was committed in the context of domestic violence.

Pre-trial proceedings have been launched and the accused has been detained for up to 72 hours.

The prosecution office will petition the court to remand the accused in custody.
