Bulgaria has offered assistance to Slovenia and Austria in the wake of the heavy floodings, the government information service said. 

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov has talked by phone with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob. Bulgaria empathizes and expresses full solidarity with the two countries and is ready to provide assistance according to the needs of the affected areas. Denkov conveyed condolences to the relatives of the victims.

Earlier the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry tweeted that Bulgaria is ready to provide support to Slovenia and Austria after the floodings in the two countries.

Bulgaria expresses solidarity with Slovenia and Austria and is ready to provide support according to the needs. The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry condoles with the families of the victims of the heavy floodings in Slovenia and with all who have been affected badly by the extreme weather both in Slovenia and Austria.

Slovenia's government has approached the European Commission for support under the European Solidarity Fund after heavy rains caused floodings in two thirds of the country.

Due to the heavy rainfall emergency services in Southern Austria struggled. The northern parts of Slovenia have been affected by heavy rains as well.
