Traffic is heavy at several border checkpoints with Romania and Greece as of 6 am on Friday, the Border Police said on its website.

At the Bulgarian-Romanian border, traffic is congested for outbound trucks at the Kardam and Durankulak checkpoints.

Due to extensive repairs on the Bulgarian side of the Danube Bridge in Ruse, a single-lane traffic management system controlled by traffic lights has been put into effect temporarily. Besides the Ruse checkpoint, drivers in the area have alternative options, including the Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kainardzha, and Krushari checkpoints. Kainardzha and Krushari operate from 8 am to 8 pm daily and do not allow freight vehicles, the Border Police added.

At the border with Greece, there is heavy traffic at the Kulata border checkpoint. The Border Police observed a substantial increase in the number of crossings at Kulata and Makaza checkpoints, primarily caused by an influx of Romanian tourists traveling to and from Greece. To minimize delays, the authorities recommend that travelers utilize alternative checkpoints along the Bulgarian-Greek border. These checkpoints typically experience lighter traffic and enable faster processing. The Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad checkpoint do not allow freight vehicles.

Traffic is normal at all checkpoints with Turkiye, Serbia and North Macedonia.
