A concrete mixer truck collided with the night passenger train traveling from Istanbul to Sofia on Saturday night, reported the Turkish news agency Ihlas Haber Agency.
The train was carrying 80 passengers, including foreigners, including Bulgarian citizens.
The accident happened on Saturday night at a railway crossing near the village of Velikoy, near the village of Cerkezkoy, Tekirdag district at around 11 pm local time. It was not reported if the railway crossing was guarded or was not.
The concrete mixer truck with Turkish registration collided with night train E68 009, which was traveling from Istanbul to Sofia, and was dragged by the train. The impact injured the driver of the concrete mixer, who was hospitalized.
No other injuries have been reported so far. The accident caused panic among the train passengers.
Emergency teams, gendarmerie and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
The movement of trains on the Istanbul-Edirne railway line has been suspended.
The inspection of the crash site is ongoing.
