site.btaSofia District Prosecution Office Detains North Macedonia National for Fraud

The Sofia District Prosecution Office has prosecuted a North Macedonia national for fraud that caused pecuniary damage to an elderly woman, the Prosecution Office said on Friday.

On November 21, defendant with initials B.S., as an accomplice, in order to obtain for himself a pecuniary gain, aided an unidentified person who defrauded a 74-year-old woman. The unidentified person posed as a police officer seeking assistance in apprehending a group of criminals. This caused pecuniary damage of BGN 3,000, USD 17,000 and EUR 5,000 to the elderly woman.

By order of the supervising prosecutor, B.S. was detained for up to 72 hours. A request is to be submitted to the court for a detention order against the accused.
