Sofia, August 8 (BTA) - Eighty-one kilometres of the 133-km wire fence along the land border with Romania have been built as prevention against the possible spreading of African swine fever by wild boars from Romania crossing over to Bulgaria, the Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ministry said on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday the Romanian authorities announced the presence of more than 500 cases of African swine fever, mostly in the Danube Delta.

The stretches of the border where the fence is yet to be built are being patrolled round-the-clock.
