The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) received the award of the Rector of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) for digitalization and innovative policies for staff development - one of the university's "Administration of the Year" Awards. UNWE Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov presented the award to BTA Director General Kiril Valchev at BTA’s National Press Club on Monday.
BTA and UNWE signed a permanent partnership agreement. BTA Director General Valchev handed over to Prof. Dimitrov a certificate for free usage of BTA’s custom-made LIK typeface by the administration of the UNWE.
The University of National and World Economy (UNWE) will honour the most efficient and innovative Bulgarian administrations with its “Administration of the Year” awards based on a survey conducted by the university and partner organizations, said Rector Dimitrov. The award ceremony will be held at the UNWE on April 8.
The awards will be conferred for the first time at such a ceremony, in honor of UNWE’s 105th anniversary, said Prof. Dimitrov. The research, headed by Prof. Borislav Borisov, has been carried out for several years by the Institute of Economics and Politics with the UNWE, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov, the Institute of Public Administration and the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria.
Prof. Borislav Borisov, head of the study, specified that every year the UNWE carries out two large-scale studies covering all structures of the state administration. "One of them is related to assessing the level of the state administration and defining one indicator - the index of administrative capacity of the state administration. The results of this study will be released in the first half of May 2025," he said.
The second study, the results of which will be presented on Tuesday, aims to highlight those outperforming administrations, from which others can learn and transfer the positive experience, said Prof.. Borisov. He specified that there are four categories of assessment in the study - efficiency of the administration, competence and capacity of good governance, ethical behaviour, openness and transparency, as well as innovativeness of the public administration. Based on these criteria, the UNWE awards, which will be presented on Tuesday, have been distributed. “There are also awards for all administrations that have shown good achievements and Rector's awards,” Borisov added.
