Speaking to journalists after the official opening of Forest Week here on Monday, President Rumen Radev commented on media reports suggesting that relatives of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, own a business in Bulgaria. Radev stated that it is positive for more foreign investors to do business in the country, but underscored that it becomes "absurd" when those who invest in Bulgaria simultaneously pursue an anti-Bulgarian policy. "I hope that reason will finally prevail there. It cannot be done with demagoguery alone," he added.

Radev further noted that it is time for the citizens of North Macedonia to realize that their current Government and its policies are distancing the country from the European Union, as well as from security, stability, and prosperity.

Last week, Radev and King Abdullah II of Jordan hosted the Aqaba Process for the Balkans III summit in Sofia, where security issues focusing on Southeast Europe were discussed. During the meeting, Radev also had a conversation with North Macedonia's President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. When asked about their discussion, Radev mentioned that Siljanovska-Davkova had expressed her deep gratitude to Bulgarian doctors and to everything Bulgaria had done after the deadly fire in Kocani. He added that the long queues of people eager to donate blood for the victims of the incident demonstrated the closeness between the people of the two countries.
