Approached for comment on the upcoming motion of no confidence against the Government on the topic of corruption, President Rumen Radev told journalists here on Monday that he does not want to comment on parties’ parliamentary policies. “What I observe with interest, and to some extent with concern, is that the borderline that defines the contours of the majority and the opposition in Parliament is becoming increasingly unclear," he said. “This is exactly what gives rise to the problem of the transparency and effectiveness of the decisions made. We can see that everything has started to 'float' and is driven solely by interest,” Radev commented.

When asked whether this might become a topic for a Consultative Council on National Security, Radev said that “there are responsible institutions that must do their job." If they continue this way, not doing their job, then other ways will obviously be found so that they will be forced to do it, he added.

The President was approached by journalists after opening Forest Week. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of Forest Week took place outside St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.

The Consultative Council on National Security is an advisory body on national security issues, chaired by the President of Bulgaria. Its members are the chair of the National Assembly; the Prime Minister; the Minister of Defence; the Minister of the Interior; the Minister of Foreign Affairs; the Minister of Finance; the Chairman of the State Agency for National Security; the Chief of Defence; the Chairman of the State Intelligence Agency; the Secretary of the Security Council; and one representative from each parliamentary group.
