Four new MPs were sworn in at the start of Friday's sitting of the National Assembly: Ivaylo Kostadinov and Ivan Klisurski of There Is Such a People (TISP), Samuil Slavov of Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh), and Yavor Haytov of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms. This comes after Thursday's Constitutional Court ruling outlawing the election of 16 MPs in a case challenging the legitimacy of the early parliamentary elections, held on October 27, 2024.
Another representative of MECh, Iliyan Iliev, was to swear in on Friday but informed Parliament he does not wish to become an MP, National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova said. The Central Election Commission has been notified of his decision.
