Bulgaria's Teodora Tsaneva won the gold in the U21 kumite under-50 kg category at the Karate-1 Youth League, which takes place in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, from February 20 to 23. She scored five victories, allowing her opponents to gain one point only.

The 18-year-old Tsaneva defeated Iran's Zahra Pirmardvandchegeni 8-0, Palestine's Ibaa Salama 3-0, the Netherlands' Samina Yalcin 1-1 (by the judges' decision), Uzbekistan's Gulshan Alimardanova 0-0 (by the judge's decision), and Uzbekistan's Madinabonu Olimova 2-0 in the finals.

Earlier in February, Tsaneva won a silver medal in the same category of the continental championship in Poland.
