No Cyber Attacks
Occurred during the Bulgarian
Elections for EU Parliament
May 28 (BTA) - Interior Minister Mladen Marinov said Tuesday that there have been no cyber attacks during the Bulgarian elections for EU Parliament. He noted that elections security was well organized. Marinov participated in the opening of a roundtable on "Cyber Security Challenges to the Institutions and Business in Bulgaria" at Inter Expo Center in Sofia.
The Interior Minister noted that cyber crime knows no limits and that this type of crime develops because of military and economic conflicts. He predicted that cyber attacks will inevitably increase.
Bulgarian legislation on the matter is problematic because the Electronic Communications Act hinders cyber investigations. Several texts in it, which provide for very light penalties, limit investigators, said Yavor Kolev, head of the Cybercrime Unit at the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime. LY/DT
