site.btaSofia's Transport Companies End 2024 with BGN 22.7 Mln in Profits

The Sofia city bus company Stolichen Autotransport, the city's tram and trolley-bus operator Stolichen Elektrotransport and its underground railway operator Metropolitan have ended 2024 with BGN 22.7 million in profits according to preliminary data of the Urban Mobility Center, the press center of Sofia Municipality reported. They noted that this is possible thanks to the strategically planned financial policy, the active work of the municipality's team, the record financial resources secured in the economic framework for transport for 2024, as well as the loans provided by the Sofia Municipality.

This provides the necessary financial means to improve working conditions at the depots, carry out the repairs and significantly improve the working environment for its employees without the need for an additional loan from the city.

The Sofia Municipality's financial policy in 2024 has been targeted from the outset. One of the strategic lines was to help the transport operators, so as not to create a risk for both workers and commuters by clearing the debts accumulated over the years, said Ivan Vassilev, Deputy Mayor for finance, quoted by the press center of the Municipality. In his words, in just one year the targeted actions of the Municipality's leadership have made the companies profitable. We have at least three more years in which we continue to develop Sofia's public transport, Vassilev added.
