Parliament Sets Up Ad Hoc Committee to Examine Outbreaks of Goat Plague and Sheeppox

Parliament decided on Wednesday to set up an ad hoc committee to verify and establish the facts and circumstances regarding the outbreaks of goat plague and sheeppox in the country. 216 MPs voted in favour and one abstained.

The committee will consist of 16 MPs, two from each parliamentary group. Borislav Petkov from the MECh party headed the committee. He was elected with the votes of 193 MPs and 18 abstentions. Andrey Chorbanov from There Is Such a Nation became the vice-chairman of the committee with 207 votes in favour and 2 abstentions.

A committee will establish all the facts and circumstances related a possible inaction, violation of legislation and rules by the competent authorities, individuals and legal entities, and NGOs. The committee has one month to put forward a report.

The proposal for the establishment of the committee was submitted by MPs from the parliamentary group of MECh.
