The Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) docked at the Argentine naval base Mar del Plata, the official Facebook page of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy reported on Wednesday.

The ship was solemnly welcomed to the sounds of the Bulgarian national anthem, performed by the military brass band of the Argentine Navy, and the honor guard of the mayor of Mar del Plata. Special guests at the official event were Bulgarian Ambassador to Argentina Stoyan Mihaylov, Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev, Atlantic Naval Area Commander Marcelo Paternostro, Argentina's Antarctic Academy President Rear Admiral Marcello Tarapov , Argentine-Bulgarian Foundation Chair Ruzhka Nikolova, representatives of Mar del Plata City Hall, etc.

Established good practices for interaction with the Argentine Navy were once again realized with the embarkation of an Argentine navigation officer to provide assistance and support in navigating in polar conditions.

After restocking to full norms, a sailing and passage to the southernmost city on the planet, Ushuaia, is due on Saturday.
