Germany's Mahmoud Charr will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight championship against Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev in Saturday's Winbet Fight Night in Sofia. 

The 43-year-old Pulev has 31 wins, 3 losses and 14 knockouts. He has had two successive wins in 12 months against Poland's Andrzej Wawrzyk and Ukraine's Ihor Shevadzutskyi. 

The 40-year-old Charr is coming out of inactivity of more than two years. He has a record of 34 wins, 4 losses and 20 knockouts. In 2022 he defeated Albania's Nuri Seferi.

In the opening bout in the Arena 8888 Sofia Hall, Germany's Atilla Kayabasi defeated Greece's Paris Stavropoulos in the lightweight category by a split decision.

The next two bouts ended in quick KOs. Germany's Mohammed Bekdash won against Argentina's Ricardo Marcelo Ramallo in the in the cruiserweight category. Italy's Pietro Loriga defeated Marko Dmitrovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in the lightweight category.

Ukraine's Oleksandr Hrytsiv won 3-0 against Poland's Sergey Verveyko in the heavyweight category.

Moldova's Vasile Cebotari won 3-0 against Spain's Ayoub Zakari in the welterweight category.
