The National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NAIM-BAS) is set to unveil the exhibition Chronicles of Steel: Melee Weapons of the Bulgarian Middle Ages, the NAIM-BAS team said here on Thursday.

Scheduled to open on December 11, the exhibition promises an in-depth look into the culture of warfare in the Bulgarian lands during the Middle Ages, showcasing iconic weapons such as swords, sabres, and combat knives.

On the occasion of the exhibition, Peter Johnson, a world-renowned swordsmith celebrated for his functional reconstructions of historical weapons exhibited in European museums and private collections, will visit Bulgaria ahead of the exhibition. Johnson will deliver a public lecture in English on the art of sword forging, an event scheduled for December 9 in the Central Hall of NAIM-BAS, the organizers said.
